Summer School 2024

The InnovativeKids Summer School 2024 provides young and budding creatives with a versatile & fun schedule of art and design courses.

InnovativeKids by AK Malta was conceived as an idea to promote INNOVATION and CREATIVITY through multi-disciplinary learning experiences aimed at 21st century knowledge and skills.

The InnovativeKids Summer School offers an interesting mix of workshops in Visual Arts (Drawing, Painting, Sculpting & Pottery etc…), Game design & DEVELOPMENT, PRODUCT DESIGN & Elementary Engineering, Film production and Digital ANIMATION complimented with weekly outings and outdoor workshops relating to a specific theme of the week.

We are pleased to announce the 6th Edition of the celebrated InnovativeKids Summer School! 6 years of Love, FUN and INNOVATING (lots sweat & head-banging in d process…) CRAZY right?

ⓘ The InnovativeKids summer school operates as a licensed summer school and participants upto 12 years old are entitled to a tax deduction of up to €2000 or the fees actually paid during the summer school.

⚠️We only accept 60 places per summer. Places are limited and some classes tend to become fully booked very quickly.⚠️

Admission details:

The Summer School is open for students between 5-8, 9-12 and 13+ grouped accordingly. *4 year old siblings are accepted to apply

Summer School Commencement Date: 1st July until 30th August 2024 (7 Full Weeks)
+ Extended Program (Option): until the 13th of September ’24 (+2 weeks)
*No sessions will be held during the St. Maria shut-down* (12th-23rd August 2024)

Extra school hour rates apply if opting for extended summer school hours. Other optional services such as transportation fees for outings, and personal-use supplies are excluded and may be added.

Shared classroom resources policy ⓘ

All activities are inclusive of Basic Shared-Classroom resources. These resources include shareable pencils, reusable tools and equipment, and basic materials. Other personal-use consumable resources are not included and must be purchased by the student. Personalized student packages are available at an extra charge. Personal use consumables include: personal toolkits, sketchbooks, specialized course materials, clay, painting paper etc… which are consumed and/or taken home by the student after individual use.

MULTIDISCIPLINARY

In today and tomorrow’s world students require multidomain knowledge and skills. We break the mould of teaching by subject. Through our project-based system students are able to learn mathemathics, literacy and history through the arts. They are able to mix knowledge from different domains to come up with a creative solution or outcome.

ORGANIC LEARNING

Our competence-oriented approach allows students to learn through their own mistakes, reflect and improve. It allows students the space and time for errors and correction. A system which aims to reshape how students portray Failure.

 

INTEREST DRIVEN

Motivation like in anything else in life is a key aspect in a child’s learning experience. When learning is joyful and desirable, students are hungry to learn on their own, without outside persuasion

Our Mission – a different Ethos

Our aim is to cultivate a culture of curiosity, which allows students to inquire for answers rather than just listen and conform. We want to cultivate diversity by creating the space for different ideas to be shared and individual growth to happen.

The main aim is to generate a learning experience that these children will reflect on and continue to develop for the rest of their lives. To develop a Growth Mindset – that is to teach students to acknowledge that their knowledge, skills and talents are malleable and can be developed-. This mindset opens individuals to endless possiblities.

Another objective that we aim to transcend is about Failure! Many of our children often become sanitized and averse towards the idea of failure by the current ‘schooling’ system which rewards test scores over process. We celebrate failure for it allows students to reflect and think of better ways and solutions. Failure is a critical part of learning which encourages creativity and individual growth.

 

All InnovativeKids Summer School & courses will be held in our air conditioned studios in Qormi.

For all of you – the busy parents – extended program hours are available during Early Drop-off (7.45am-8:15am) and Extended Pick-up (1:30PM-2:30PM) times at an extra charge. For more info and to Book visit here

Note: Whilst we afford a cushion of -/+ 10 minutes we encourage punctuality. Hence if a student is picked up between 1:30PM to 1:40PM no extra fess will be charged.

Peppin Transport offers services for InnovativeKids Summer School 2024 from all locations. Prices vary from €4 to €8 per day per student. Price depends on location and number of students.

Transport Details and Terms

  • Fees are to be paid directly to the transport operator. 30% deposit by end of May and 70% before start of the summer school.
  • Transport fees are not included in the summer school & course fees.
  • Transport is not available for Extra hours (Early drop-off or extended pick-up)
  • Please be aware that transportation services are outsourced to a third-party provider. The school expressly disclaims any responsibility for the provision of these services, as they are entirely managed and operated by the designated service provider. We cannot guarantee the availability or reliability of transportation, as it is contingent upon demand and meeting minimum requirements. Any issues or concerns regarding transportation should be directed to the service provider directly.

THE SCHEDULE

The Online schedule will run from 9AM-1;30PM (Monday-Friday) just like the regular summer program minus the icebreaker period which takes place between 8:15-9AM.

Important Notices:

Due to the high-quality standard of programs the InnovativeKids Summer School program is like an iceberg! Only 10% is evident… with the rest 90% of all the work, effort and preparations made months in advance.

Due to the personalized approach the InnovativeKids Summer program ONLY accepts 60 places per year.

It is therefore very important to enroll in advance to avoid disappointments.

Our enrolment periods are as follow:

*Super Early Enrolment (30eu discount!) until 15th February*

Early Enrollment Period (15eu discount) until 15th March

Final Enrollment deadline is until 1st May. A 15 euro charge will apply on later enrollments (subject to availability).

FAQ – Frequently asked questions

Where will the summer school be held?

All the summer school courses will be held at our Art and Creative space at 72, Spiteri Fremond in Qormi (right across from PAVI). Plenty of street parking is available.

Are extra hours available?

We are well aware of the many daily commitments. For sure reason we do allow for early drop in or later pick up times as you may find below:

Early drop in extension times between 7:30AM-8:15AM 

Later pick up extension times between 1:30PM-2:30PM

Do we need to buy any materials for the Summer School and/or the courses?

General shared resources are provided during the Summer school. Personal-use materials and resources are available at an extra cost. Read the Shared resources policy above and check out for Material boxes/kits available for each course before booking.

What will the outings/excursions include?

The outings which will be held during the EXPLORERS program will include several art/cultural activities such as museum visits accompanied by creative activities, treasure hunts, outdoors art sessions and other art appreciation activities aimed to keep the students alive and on their toes!

Is transport available (to and from)?

Based on general inquiry we are currently considering some different private transportation services at an extra charge which depends on the number of students.

Parents who wish to opt for the private transport, both to or from the summer school are encouraged to email us directly via innovativekidsmalta@gmail.com for further information.
