/ ABOUT YOUR HOST
Aprille’s story is one of inspiration and artistic evolution. Growing up, she spent her summers immersed in the world of her grandmother, Rose Nygaard, an acclaimed abstract expressionist artist. This unique upbringing, surrounded by a kaleidoscope of colours and the freedom of artistic expression, deeply influenced Aprille’s creative path.
Her early fascination with art took a more serious turn at Verdala International School, leading her to pursue a degree in Fine Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University, the top public arts school in the USA. Here, Aprille discovered her passion for screen printing, a medium that perfectly aligned with her desire to handcraft her designs. She graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design, minoring in Printmaking, a testament to her commitment and love for this art form.
Returning to Malta, Aprille noticed a gap in the artistic community – a lack of communal printmaking spaces. Driven by her passion and her vision to foster a collaborative artistic environment, she established her studio in Fgura. This studio is not just a workspace but a sanctuary where she conducts intimate workshops for both novices and more experienced artists, including design students and illustrators. Aprille’s workshops, limited to four participants, offer a unique opportunity for tourists and locals alike to create tangible memories of Malta.
