In this hands-on handcraft class, you will learn the tools, techniques and processes of sculpting with special focus on clay and handbuilding sculpture. You’ll begin class discovering the language of sculpture and what makes a beautiful sculpture. Then, you’ll learn different processes and techniques. During this exciting journey you will become introduced to various sculpting techniques ranging from: Dry-clay, ceramics, paper mache, cardboard, carving and relief sculptures and so much more! We will also touch different subjects from ornamental to figurative sculptures.

This beginners class is specifically designed for the busy adult learner who wants to delve in a world of creative expression and enjoy creating a versatile sculpting portfolio using various sculpting media and techniques.

All sessions and techniques taught will be using handbuilding method (not wheel-throwing).

Course Description

Programme Overview

In this hands-on handcraft class, you will learn the tools, techniques and processes of sculpting with special focus on clay and handbuilding sculpture. You’ll begin class discovering the language of sculpture and what makes a beautiful sculpture. Then, you’ll learn different processes and techniques. During this exciting journey you will become introduced to various sculpting techniques ranging from: Dry-clay, ceramics, paper mache, cardboard, carving and relief sculptures and so much more! We will also touch different subjects from ornamental to figurative sculptures.

All sessions and techniques taught will be using handbuilding method (not wheel-throwing). Firing of artefacts is not guaranteed.
